Manitoba Health Benefits
Residents of Manitoba are entitled to reimbursement from Manitoba Health for prostheses and surgical bras. Manitoba Health will pay up to $153.50 per prosthesis. Women who have had a single mastectomy are covered for up to two prostheses every four years, and women who have had a bilateral mastectomy are eligible for up to four prostheses every four years. Women who have had a lumpectomy or reconstructive surgery may not be entitled to benefits under Manitoba Health. Manitoba health will also cover up to $12.30 for each surgical bra, up to a total of two bras every year. The twelve month period commences from the date of the first purchase.

- Obtain a prescription from your physician. Manitoba health requires the following information:
- Your name
- Your doctor's name
- The date of your surgery
- Whether it was a left, right or bilateral mastectomy or If you have not been able to obtain a prescription, you may submit this information yourself by including your name, address and phone number, the name of your surgeon or family doctor, the date of your surgery and the type of surgery you had - right, left or bilateral.
- Purchase a breast prosthesis and/or surgical bra and obtain a sales receipt.
- Make two copies of the receipt for your records. Manitoba Health retains the original copy.
- Forward the prescription, or your information, and the original receipt to Manitoba Health at:

Phone: 786-7101- Reimbursement will be sent directly to you. A prescription for subsequent purchases and/or bras is not required.
- Extra coverage may be available through private insurance. (IE: Blue Cross, Great West Life, etc.). Forward your cheque stub from Manitoba Health and a copy of your original sales receipt to the appropriate insurance company(ies) for reimbursement.
- A medical expense claim can be made on your income tax for any amount left, over and above the amount covered by insurance.
